Paint Booths

Auto Body Paint Shop

At Mudgett's Auto Body we take vehicle painting seriously. Whether painting a complete vehicle or just replacement parts, we want the job to look as good as possible. We achieve that in several ways, both through the painting environment, and through the techniques we use to produce a high-quality professional paint job.

Paint Booths

At Mudgett's we know contaminants, poor drying conditions and poor lighting can all affect the quality of your vehicle's paint job. Because of this we use Garmat® Down Draft Heated Paint Booths. These booths are among the best in the industry and provide outstanding airflow technology to help pull contaminants away from your vehicle/parts so they don't end up in the paint.

The booths used at Mudgett's also employ outstanding lighting so we can fully see every detail as we paint your vehicle/parts. Our booths are also heavily insulated to prevent heat loss into the surrounding shop during the bake cycle, which maximizes efficiency for drying time. It also makes them environmentally friendly since they help conserve energy!

Paint Mixing

Paint Mixing

Achieving the right match to your original paint color can be tricky, and Mudgett's knows that, so we have one of the best paint mixing rooms in the industry.

At Mudgett's we utilize a Garmat® paint mixing room. This paint mixing room is designed to provide a well-illuminated, clean, ventilated work area for our mixing needs. The unit utilizes positive pressure to help eliminate contaminated shop air from interfering with the mixing process, and has color corrected lighting, for accurate color mixing and matching.

Painting Techniques That Set Us Apart

While the equipment we use at Mudgett's goes a long way toward getting the job right, experience and workmanship are crucial to getting outstanding results. At Mudgett's we pay attention to details and differentiate ourselves from the competition.

Trim removed for painting

Test Panels

To make sure the paint mix is as close as a match as possible, Mudgett's often sprays test panels first.

Trim

One way Mudgett's differentiates itself from the competition is how we handle trim. We remove all trim, handles, lighting, etc from the portions of the vehicle to be painted, prior to painting. By removing these items we do not have to mask them and can paint continuously over the entire surface without fear of having uneven edges in the paint in those locations. Additionally, removing the trim allows us to paint to the edges thus eliminating the chance of peeling paint.

The result is a cleaner and more consistent paint job that mimics the factory paint flawlessly.

Color Blending

Another key Mudgett's difference is in our use of a color blending technique when painting replaced sections of a vehicle.

At Mudgett's we blend the paint across the sections of the vehicle adjacent to the repaired sections. The reason for doing this becomes apparent when you consider the problem of paint matching. While we make every effort to achieve a nearly exact paint match, we recognize that a perfect match is nearly impossible. Because of this, if we were just to paint the replaced sections of a repaired vehicle body, the potential for slight variation would exist.

By blending the new paint with the old paint, minor deviations in color become impossible to notice.
